Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax arrested in Bribery Case; Threw Phones into Sabarmati River to help Colleague: CBI
The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) has arrested the then Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, Ahmedabad(Gujarat) in an ongoing investigation of a case related with bribery.
On the request of the Gujarat government, CBI registered the present case towards the Further Commissioner, Income Tax, Ahmedabad on October 12, 2022, and an extra notification from the Authorities of India linked to bribery of Rs.30 lakh.
It was alleged that the then Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax had facilitated the escape of the stated Further Commissioner from his office by serving to, make a ruckus throughout lure proceedings on 04.10.2022 laid by ACB of Gujarat State.
It was further claimed that whereas evading the State ACB, the then Further Commissioner of Income Tax (Central Range-I), Ahmedabad handed over two cell handsets to the stated Assistant Commissioner. On the orders of the abovementioned Further Commissioner of Earnings Tax, the then Assistant Commissioner allegedly disposed of the 2 cell gadgets by throwing them within the Sabarmati River.
